And took the family to the farmer's market at Collingwood Children's Farm! I try never to miss this market because it is just so good and it's located at one of our favourite places. Miss Bok (6) has had her birthday here at the farm every year since she was 2, classmates in tow...daycare mates...then kinder mates...then primary school mates! She is growing up too quickly. She told me that she didn't want her birthday at the farm this year - she wants a pool party instead! Who's pool I wonder?? We have large puddles but nothing remotely resembling a pool. She told me 'don't worry about the details mum'. Riiiiiiiight. 6 years old but really she vacillates between being a teenager and a grumpy old lady.
It was a really lovely way to spend an early Saturday morning. Even though it made my toes go numb and this flock of HUGE Light Sussex made Master Bok (2) cry by stealing his pancake as he was lifting it to his mouth, not just once, but TWICE! Cheeky!
We were back home in front of the fire by 9am. Cooking for friends who are visiting for lunch.
Hope you're having a lovely Saturday too x
Look at those naughty chooks! It sounds like a great place for a farmer's market assuming you can keep the chooks out of your food.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
Such a gorgeous market - and I'd love some of those chestnuts to play with!
ReplyDeleteI only wish I could pull myself out from under the covers to enjoy the outdoors so early in this very cold weather. Your pile of seeds looks so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI love farmer's markets! I really don't take advantage of the ones here like I should!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's party thoughts made smile. Hopefully she'll oscillate back to a 6-year-old soon and the pool party will be forgotten before her birthday rolls around :)
ReplyDeleteYour farmer's market looks wonderful. The pancake stealing doesn't sound like fun though - I don't blame Master Bok for crying!
What lovely fresh food I bet it all taste's good.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous market. What a girl Miss Bok sounds like, as a teacher of 6 year olds, I appreciate her ideas.
ReplyDeleteDeb
Looks like a great market. Ours is much smaller.
ReplyDeleteWe love the Collingwood childrens farm! Look at all that amazing produce. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend.
Your six year old is growing up and you will be off on a grand adventure with her. I raised two daughters and one of them has two girls and the other 2 boys. The boys are easier. Here there is a touch of fall in the air this morning. It has cooled off--down from the low 90s F. Of course it just might rain as we had the hay cut in the pasture this week. As we put our garden to bed, you will be raising yours up. I'll enjoy watching what you plant and watching your garden grow.
ReplyDeleteI really should try to get to the local farmer's market here sometime soon. Sussex hens are so sweet and loveable. I have one who is fast becoming my favourite. Even though she's not laying yet, she just seems like the sweetest big baby and I can't be cross with her. The ones you met sound very cheeky!
ReplyDeletewow that is a huge farmers market.
ReplyDeletePool party, with no Pool! Love it! I will be interested to hear what you actually do for the next birthday!! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun in the garden this weekend with your little box of Diggers GOLD! :)
that looks like my big fatty light sussex Charlotte - she snatched a chunk of camembert from my mums hand once and wolfed down the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the Collingwood Children's farm, Farmers market too and am a regular visitor. Understand with your 6 year old. My 5 year old changes her mind about the party she wants regularly at the moment and has been in planning for months. Her birthday isn't until December so we still have plenty of party discussions to get through. Thanks too for commeting on my blog. Your idea re the Wattle is a good one. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. G
ReplyDeleteAll that before 9am on a saturday I am impressed but farmer's markets are so great, this one looks really nice. I feel like little cream cakes now after seeing yours : )
ReplyDeleteFarmer Market is always so much fun. I just love to watch what the farmers are selling. Although, I am not allowed to buy any veggies other than onions or potatoes. I totally forgot to order any summer seeds. Now I have to plan which we need.
ReplyDeleteI love that farmer's market, but haven't made it for a while now - do you go to the one at the convent as well?
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand Miss Bok's desire for a pool party. As a kid I always wanted one despite not having a pool, having my birthday mid July (and growing up in a town with no heated pool anywhere) and not particularly enjoying swimming. Not sure what I was thinking.
Enjoy the seeds, I'm about to order some more too.
Hello everyone! Thank you for your replies :) I love farmers markets, something wonderful about meeting the people who grow the food you buy - and also a chance to ask questions!
ReplyDeleteI do love the convent too, they do a great brekkie too.
I took Miss Bok (6) to her friend's birthday party today which was at a bowling alley (don't think I'd even heard of bowling alleys when I was her age) and now she is thinking bowling might be the thing she'd like. Hmm!!
Look at all those lovely goodies to be had!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the party ideas.
Oh it looks great!! Now I am not a stalker or anything! But if you actually live in Collingwood - so does our friend Chris who we were in Bali with - small world!
ReplyDeleteI love going to the market too! Infact, that is one place I will go whenever I visit a country. It really tells a lot of a culture.
