Winter Wednesday - How Peasful

A joy of winter in Melbourne must be the picking and shelling of fresh peas from the garden...

And roasting and crushing of eggshells to feed to the bok flock  :)

Saw our architect last night.  LOVED the plans they have come up with, match perfectly what I drew up and outlined to them.  But...the cost...is DOUBLE what we thought it would be.  Sigh.  Dreams...floating up high...out of reach...

Linking up to Hazel for Winter Wednesday.  Over and out.

  1. Ooo what are your plans for? I recently had my new kitchen drew up, when things proved too expensive we just looked at it again and kept on going until it was within my teeny tiny almost non exsitent budget! My architect is very savvy that way, she put herself through uni as a single mum and has since built up a hugely successful business. But having to do it hard really means that she knows how to be practical and slash costs!

Oh I blathered :) But I LOVE plans and houses and new stuff.

  3. Oh you lucky thing - I love fresh peas!! I have only just planted my seedlings so I have a way to go before I can sit down in the patch and eat mine. They're like lollies to me :)
What a bummer about your plans. I hope you work something out x

  4. Winter Peas. Home grown peas are always good. We just finished a basement and have done a kitchen in an old house. Here is my sage advice: The projects always cost twice as much and take twice as long as we hope. Don't give up; just get creative.

  9. Yummy fresh peas!! Isn't it hard waiting for them to mature though!
Roasting the egg shells? Hmm, Is this for flavour?? I usually just crush mine up and toss them in with the scraps! :)

  12. We have so many friends building at the moment, they have brilliant tips, i can't wait to put all the ideas, budget savers & my maths together for an amazingly simple homestead, seems we'll be capable of doing so much of it (preparation, tiling, painting, plumbing, electrical) ourselves, thanks to my clever husband & my natural design instincts, yahoo!! Building a 6 bedroom home is not going to be free, that is for sure!! Love Posie

  13. I love fresh peas, but I've never had any more than a snack at once.
Tell us more about your renovation ideas? There's always a way to make things work somehow.

  16. Yum - home-grown peas! Good luck with your house plans. The unfortunate thing about home improvements is they always end up being WAY over budget and tricker than first seemed -- but then you enjoy the results all the more because you know the effort that went into it.
