Spring on my windowsill

Like my fellow garden lovers in Australia, I'm delighted that there is a definite Spring feel in the air  :)

Seeds are sprouting on my windowsills and in the garden, it's a magic time of year and I am more than ready to shake off winter!  I've bravely put seedlings of tomato carefully nurtured on the window still from seed out in the apple crates, knowing jack frost is still visiting through the week.  Silly aren't I...ever the optimist!

The potatoes in the empty chook feed bags are doing well I think...

And I've been enjoying the sunshine spilling through the window onto my little rocking chair under my fan palm, Professor Lewis Carroll.

Hypatia our mumma hen has even laid an egg for us and I'm very pleased is teaching the other young ones how to eat - that is, they watch her and copy her.  Her egg contributed to some baked goodies...

I'll leave you with a cartoon I giggled at whilst flicking through The Big Issue the other day...

  1. Ooo that cartoon is FUNNY! And your seedlings look very cosy in their little containers. I can't believe you are still having frosts, that sounds COLD!

  4. I was busy in the garden today and loving the spring feel to the weather. So nice after all the rain! I need to get some photos of our vege garden tomorrow. It's the first time we've actually planted anything, this year and it is all very exciting. How lovely that Hypatia laid an egg for your baked goodies!

  6. Tomatoes in the chook feed bags! That's a genius idea, Mrs Bok! Our tomatoes are growing indoors at the moment, we'll see how we go! :)

  11. Oooh I get to see a glimpse of your gorgeous Miss Bok! And I love the wall decals too. Very pretty! I missed weighing in on naming your chooks. I was thinking Quentin (Bryce) would make a good name but the ones you chose are pretty perfect :-)

  13. Hello Bok Flock! I just discovered you through Ceila over at Purple Podded Peas. Your little Pekin is just beautiful - they all are - and had to smile over the names. It's been a while since we've had to think of a whole bunch of names for our girls - they are mostly 4/5 years old now, except for the little one we hatched last year. Looking forward to reading more! Jacqui

  14. Ah Spring. Daffodils, tulips, spring buds, glorious warming weather. How lucky you are. Here in Northern Colorado it is still bloody hot and dry. We are edging ever so slowly toward fall. The chooks seem to be doing well, too. Your seedlings are awesome. I look forward to see what wonderful results you get.
